The primary purpose of education is to bring men and women to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ’s person and work.
At the center of public education is man. At the center of classical Christian education is Jesus Christ, the perfect God/man.
No education is “theologically neutral” or “religiously neutral.” Public schools promote themselves as inclusive and neutral. The reality is that they are hostile to Christianity and inherently “atheistic” or against the idea that there is a God who created everything from nothing. Christian teachers in the public schools are required to be silent about their faith.
Our teachers integrate their faith into all times of the day and live out their faith in front of their students, spur them on to faithfulness, and love them unconditionally.
II Timothy 3:16-17, Colossians 1:15-20
Students, when fully trained, will become like their master and teacher. It is important for our staff and board to have a character that is above reproach and an example worthy of our students to look up to. Classical Christian education is one of the best educational models to foster character formation and growth in Godly character.
Godly character does not save one, therefore our approach to discipline is one of prayer, forgiveness, grace, and truth.
Godly character is one of the ways Christians express their thanks to God and praise of God.
Matthew 22:37-40, Matthew 5:13-16
As a school, we aim to support the parents in their responsibility to not only educate their children, but to also bring their children to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
It is impossible for man to cause another to be born of the Spirit. It is only a work that God can do in a person.
We plant and water the Gospel seed in each child, alongside the parents and their church, but God must do the calling and growing.
Matthew 28:18-20, Matthew 19:13-15
By grammar we mean the building blocks of each subject, not just language.
By logic we mean the right ordering of the subject’s particulars.
By rhetoric we mean the ability to winsomely express all one has learned through the mediums of art, speech, and writing.
Not only are students acquiring information and knowledge, they are being discipled by their teacher to love that information and to use them for the rest of their lives.
There is nothing more damaging or as cruel as having low expectations for students. That is why each student will be encouraged towards great levels of achievement, because students rise to those expectations.
If we are to represent Christ in the world, then we must do everything with excellence, especially education.
The best way to attain and maintain an orderly atmosphere in a school is through a strict and joyful discipline.
Students flourish when expectations are known, enforced, and met in the classroom by themselves and by their peers.
There is a great sense of joy in a student when order is present in the classroom. Jesus Christ is a God of order. Therefore, we too are a school of order.
Oak Hills Academy affirms the ACCS Statement of Faith
At Oak Hills Academy we believe that every child is created in the image of God for the purpose of fellowship with Him. It is our desire to equip students with the tools to worship Him deeply, and to witness to Him broadly. We seek to accomplish this by providing an affordable Christ-centered education to the economically and ethnically diverse children of our community. We trust God will use this inter-denominational school to raise up servant-leaders who know hard work, restore communities, shape culture, and lead with conviction for the good of all people and the glory of God.
Oak Hills Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
